Teaching is a profound act of leadership. At Teach For America Connecticut we are unwavering in our belief that one of the ways our corps members are set up to be most effective is by learning from each other in rigorous group contexts. We are looking for a Manager, Teacher Leadership Development that will have a meaningful impact on the leadership of corps members through the design, facilitation and management of corps member professional development. As the Manager, Teacher Leadership Development your mission will be to develop the strongest teachers in the country who go on to set the bar for what corps members and their students are able to achieve.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Stewarding our values and co-creating alongside our teachers the culture that leads to a powerfully connected, results oriented, student- centered team environment
  • Demonstrating an steadfast commitment to the long-term leadership development of second year teachers
  • Facilitating and delivering high quality small-group learning experiences grounded in the most effective group learning practices and on a consistent cadence
  • Establishing credibility as group leader and developing powerful individual and group relationships
  • Demonstrating an exceptional level of adult facilitation prowess and a sophisticated level of emotional intelligence
  • Inviting and responding to feedback from corps member participants, TLD team members, and manager
  • Managing teacher efficacy and assessing student learning to ensure teachers are on track to meet or surpass school and organizational goals
  • EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING: Fostering a cohort culture grounded in a shared commitment to leverage the best education pedagogy, best practices and academic insights to create enduring meaningful growth for students
  • COURAGEOUS LEADERSHIP: Fostering a cohort culture grounded in a shared commitment to leverage strong relationships, historical context and multiple problem solving techniques to ask and answer challenging questions to advance equity

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience designing and facilitating  small group experiences for adults
  • 3+ years of coaching experience
  • Familiarity with Connecticut education landscape preferred

Work Demands:

  • Willing and able to work some early mornings, evenings or weekends
  • Willing and able to travel 2-3 times per year for professional development purposes
  • Willing and interested in contributing to evening or weekend events that support regional programming and culture (ex: All Staff Meetings, Staff Socials, etc.)
  • Willing and able to contribute to broader organizational and regional efforts including recruitment, matriculation, selection, etc
