Membership Lead

Under the direction of the Membership Director, the Membership Lead provides an intentional focus on building and fostering a standard of courteous and caring customer service that results in opportunities for members to become more involved, to serve, and to lead within the Y. The Membership Lead will be responsible for assisting the Membership Director with the overall activities of the department. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with members and potential members that is critical to retention.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Greet every member/participant with a smile and a hello.
  • Follow the membership guidelines when speaking to our members and guests.
  • Maintain a secure, safe environment for members and guests.
  • Be proactive in managing the Towel Desk during the shift, including checking in/out locker keys to members.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Towel Desk and lobby area.
  • Use of basic computer, office machines, calculator, and copy machine.
  • Ask to see every member’s membership card, when applicable.
  • Help manage laundry cycles from the washer to dryer and promptly fold the towels, at times lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Adhere to association policies and procedures related to safety and conduct.
  • Clock in and out for every shift.
  • Must be able to secure a substitute for any shift unable to work.
  • Lead a fun and safe environment that accomplishes the YMCA mission. Acts as a positive role model using the YMCA’s core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility.
  • Maintain visual appearance by wearing required staff apparel.
  • Understand and carry out all emergency procedures.
  • Attend all department meetings and any other training that may be deemed necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
