This position will lead the development & implementation of programming/guest services to all non-summer groups at Camp Takodah. Including, but not limited to: teambuilding, leadership & character development, recreation, conferencing, weddings, & health/wellness. A strong focus on the evaluation of group needs and customer service is critical. The bulk of the busy season will be late spring and early fall; at slower times the Outdoor Education Director will support other Takodah YMCA programs. The Outdoor Education Director works closely with the Executive Director, other professional YMCA staff, board members, volunteers, community members, & students/guest and their families.
- Develop and manage annual operating budget for group programs & services, in order to meet/exceed budget.
- Directly manage all groups from first contact through to post program.
- Hire, train, supervise, & evaluate outdoor education team.
- Lead marketing & sales for Outdoor Education department in order to retain and recruit new groups.
- Keep Current ACA & ACCT standards. Lead staff Risk Management team in regards to the high & low ropes course.
- Annually seek and analyze input from youth, families, and staff regarding the quality, safety, and enjoyment of the program and staff. Utilize input to reflect YMCA goals, vision, & strategic plan.
- Develop new mission based programming to meet the needs of the community
- Provide high level of customer service. As appropriate speak with participants, parents, leaders etc. Return all communication within 24 hours.
- Complete all administrative tasks: reservations/contracts, budget/accounting, & communication with all parties.
- Oversee all outdoor education & teambuilding programs; including staff, participants, & group leadership.
- Support other programs: lead summer trips, assistant with Heritage Travel meetings and tours, assist with Camp Takodah opening day, and cross market all Y programs.
- Cross Collaboration with Heritage Travel and Camp Director to develop strong relationships and promote our broad scope of programs.
- Work closely with board committees & task forces.
- Assist with annual fundraising strategy. Including, but not limited to, volunteer recruitment, communication plans, marketing materials, etc.
- Support the Executive Director & Board of Directors in developing & implementing long-term fundraising strategies, prospect identification, recruitment, & donor recognition.
- Be an active member of the year round staff team.
- Other duties as required.
- Minimum 5 years experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Level 2 Adventure Program Practitioner Certification or the equivalent.
- Possess excellent customer service, communication, & organizational skills.
- Proven success with program development, creating curriculum, & implementation

Salary: $36,000.00 - $42,000.00
