The Program Director, under the direction of the Executive Director, will be responsible for overseeing the Aquatic Department at Kohl Family YMCA. S/he is also responsible for establishing standards to create a positive program experience from the point of entry to the program experience. This position will be responsible for overseeing other program departments, as it relates to program development, and planning and implementing programs in accordance with the goals, policies and philosophy of the Y.

- Plan, initiate, coordinate, teach and/or orchastrate delivery of Aquatic/other programs for all ages.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Aquatic/other staff & volunteers for the safe execution of the programs.
- Maintain current certifications for self, staff, volunteers and coaches.
- Seek out strong volunteer/parent participation, as well as community involvement with the programs.
- Prepare, develop and control budget for all assigned departments; purchase equipment and supplies.
- Prepare and plan Aquatics/other department schedules and ensure all shifts are covered.
- Hold regular in-service trainings for all Aquatic/other staff to reduce risk and improve quality standards.
- Implement processes that result in high customer satisfaction and professionalism amongst program staff.
- Generate block schedules, program brochures/flyers and other promotional materials.
- Evaluate program/s on a regular basis; collect and report necessary data for programs.
- Develop a positive public image for the Y through innovative programs that have impact in the community.
- Demonstrate effective problem solving with timely follow through.
- Actively serve and participate in the Association’s Aquatic and Sports Focus Groups, leadership meetings, association events, and The Annual Campaign.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and collaboration with other directors and staff members within branch and Association.
- Ensure the safety of staff and members using the resources from Workers Compensation and Insurance provider.
- Serves on Director on Duty rotation.
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
- Candidate will have current lifeguard certification (Includes CPR, First Aid and AED).
- In addition, they must demonstrate strong people skills, organizational and administrative skills, experience in program development, supervision, work with volunteers, financial development and member service.
- Ability to hire, train and supervise all ages of staff.
- Must possess computer skills, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
