The Program Specialist is primarily responsible to implement a strategy to recruit, engage and manage volunteers to deliver Association education and support programs. This role will develop new, sustainable community partnerships that advance the chapter mission, expand program reach and increase program delivery as per Strategic Plan goals. It will build strategic partnerships with community organizations, academic, public and private sector to advance the chapter mission and serve more clients across the territory. It will lead staff in the cultivation of relationships with long term care organizations with an emphasis on the implementation of the Association’s Dementia Care Practice Recommendations.
- Recruit and manage high level Program Services volunteers including but not limited to: Community Educators, Support Group Facilitators, and Program Services Interns.
- Ensure imputing and accuracy of CSQEI & Personify data entry.
- Assist in program services to promote effective delivery and outreach opportunities utilizing traditional methods and technology to reach increasing audiences.
- Assist with the promotion of program services in collaboration with Director of Communications
- Evaluate and maintain the quality and effectiveness of education programs
- Serve as local point of contact for and build relationships with constituents and local community providers to ensure appropriate referrals to community agencies, area agencies on aging and other organizations as appropriate.
- Maintain local referral records on Community Resource Finder.
- Plan and conduct annual Community Educator gathering.
- Participate in comprehensive training program, including formal training sessions, independent study, and continuing education programs to maintain current professional credentials
- Provides support for Physician Outreach activities, as directed
- Attendance at the following events: Annual Dementia Care Conference, Walk to End Alzheimer’s (metro and other locations as needed/assigned), Gala, RivALZ: Blondes vs. Brunettes.
- Prepare and record own correspondence, committee reports, agendas, minutes, etc. Keep accurate records and provide regular reports to the Program Services Team.
- Collaborate with the development team to create new funding streams for program expansion.

- Experience working for or with health systems, or other health care industry experience.
- Experience in adult education, caregiving issues and Alzheimer’s disease/other dementias is preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, work with a diverse community and colleagues.
- Cooperative personality, excellent communication and listening skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with attention to detail.
- Willingness to work on evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to travel to perform position requirements with occasional overnight travel (less than 20%).
