Vice President, Systems Leadership

The Vice President, Systems Leadership, will serve within the newly formed Systems Change initiative at Teach For America. You will support the Senior Vice President, Regional Field Executive, Systems Change, in the formation of this new initiative within Teach For America.  You will provide the supports, infrastructure and ultimately, a national point of view to inform organizational progress towards regional strategic clarity and towards scaling insights across our network of 53,000 participants about known solutions and emerging solutions that advance 21st century learning across the country. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, be a strong systems thinker and communicator, bring robust experience and knowledge of systems change and have a proven track record leading successful change efforts within public, complex, systems.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for all aspects of a successful launch of the systems change initiative and serving as strategic thought-partner to the SVP on all aspects of the team development, including the creation of goals, short and long range priorities and metrics associated with the team’s impact over the next three years. (30%)
  • Leading in the development of an organizational point of view about what solutions have had the most sustained and meaningful impact in communities across the country and what potential solutions exist on the horizon. 
  • Systematically collecting data, synthesize learnings, and provide leadership as the team determines which solutions are most impactful and translatable across context/regions.
  • Creating a framework and infrastructure for network learning around scaling insights of best known and emerging solutions across to the field. 
  • Creating collateral and curriculum tools that build the capacity of regional executives, teams and participants in pursuit of deeper insights around systems leadership and systems change. 
  • Ongoing consulting of national and regional teams and participants on aspects of their strategic clarity (deep understanding of our organizational 6 questions) and regional cases for support, where systems thinking and more rigorous solution sets are needed. 
Skills/Experience: 
  •  Previous C-Level responsibilities in a district or statewide role
  •  10+ years of experience in education or education policy

Work Demands

  •  Some weekend and evening work or travel may be required
  •  Ability to travel to our regions in various US cities
  •  Working with colleagues who are based across the country in various time zones
