The SEO Marketing Specialist will play a key role in supporting TNC’s digital transformation, the goal of which is to enhance the Conservancy’s online experience while deepening engagement of supporters and driving revenue.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The SEO Marketing Specialist will execute strategic SEO activities across keywords, link-building, page indexing, crawling and site structure. Through ongoing keyword research and regular audits of site architecture, content, and backlinks, the SEO Marketing Specialist will be responsible for making changes to improve ranking and performance. S/he will develop best practice recommendations for content producers and technical staff to ensure that TNC pages are up to date with the latest SEO best practices for both current and emerging trends.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on search engine optimization
  • Review and analyze sites for areas that can be improved and optimized
  • Work closely with content and technical departments to drive implementation of SEO recommendations
  • Develop and deliver clear SEO KPIs and attain improved SERP rankings and traffic growth
  • Evaluate results and develop recommendations for corrective strategies as needed
  • Resolves complex issues independently within program area
  • Opportunity to act independently within program goals
  • Does not supervise any staff but will coordinate the work of peers on departmental project teams.  May supervise volunteers, interns or temporary staff. 
  • Works within a budget to complete a project. 
  • Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience cultivating and managing client/customer relationships.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
  • Experience with utilizing search engine tools such as Google Search Console, BrightEdge, Moz or SEMrush.
  • Experience performing various types of SEO audits including competitive keyword analysis, technical SEO audits, backlink audits, and content audits.
  • Experience at reviewing and optimizing page copy to improve SEO performance.
  • Experience with HTML/CSS to implement SEO changes around meta descriptions, page titles, schema markup, etc.
  • Experience defining requirements for SEO-related technical updates for development staff.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience developing SEO strategy for content-focused sites around news, education, etc.
  • Experience working alongside paid search resources a plus
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing sites for audiences outside the United States a plus.
  • Experience leading in a team-based environment with internal and/or external partners.
  • Experience conceiving and writing creatively for various audiences from technical information.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas in a compelling manner.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in marketing.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive and write creatively for various audiences from technical information. 
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail. 
  • Relevant technology skills required to prepare presentations and analyze data to construct reports. 
  • Practical knowledge of marketing and branding principles.
