This position will drive the growth and development of Sports Leagues (Youth through Adult) as well as securing short and long term Gym Rentals to supplement gym usage and revenue.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, organize, deliver and administer sports leagues, tournaments, recreation programs, activities and awards
  • Plan, organize, schedule, and direct all games, facilities, officials, and scorekeepers for YMCA sports and activities
  • Actively research new sports programs and activities targeted toward youth and adults
  • Directs and supervises sports programs and related activities to meet YMCA objectives.
  • Expands Y program offerings and participation in youth and adult sports programs within the community.
  • Develops and maintains engaging new programs that continue to meet the changing needs and demands of local children, teens, adults and families.
  • Hires, trains and supervises sports league and program staff and volunteers to assist in implementing and maintaining top quality sports programs.
  • Helps Organizes and develops sports camps.
  • Secures gym rentals and maintains the gym schedule.
  • Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Oversee youth and adult basketball, softball and soccer leagues, etc, including, but not limited to hiring coaches, securing officials, and arranges the schedule.
  • Organizes and conducts parent and captain meetings, training and meetings for coaches.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of all sports program information.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Instructs assigned classes.
  • Maintains clean, organized and safe program facilities.
  • Ability to create curriculum and trainings that facilitate age appropriate skills for the youth participating.
  • Meets and exceeds company goals and metrics surrounding employees and members; never satisfied with the status quo
  • Building rapport with participant’s parents to encourage a long term relationship and participation in other programs.
  • Train and hold staff accountable in all program areas to deliver high quality and safe programs at all times
  • Adheres to rates set forth by company for gym rental agreements and obtains supervisor approval prior to rental occurring.
  • All other miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned by supervisor. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation or a related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing, implementing, scheduling and evaluating varied sports recreation programs
  • Minimum of one (3) years of supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage sports recreation program activities at multiple sites
  • Knowledge of rules in sports recreation program activities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Creative thinker with a history of applying innovation in programming
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build community relationships
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • CPR/PR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications (within 30 days of hire)
  • Ability to manage programs to a diverse population
  • Stand: Extended periods of time.
  • Lift equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Will be required to travel to offsite facilities when necessary. May also be required to attend meetings outside of the building
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00
