This lead coaching position at the YMCA of Greater Flint is a great opportunity to be part of a YMCA and swim team with a long track record of success. This position will also oversee the general management and maintenance of the Aquatic Department operations, including the Aquatic facilities and staff at the Pierson Road Branch. Head Coaching Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions, including dry land training.
- Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation in order to prepare swimmers for competitive events.
- Schedule and coordinate swimmer meets and associated meet entries.
- Use Team Unify software to manage athlete data, meet registration, team entries, and team communication and other team functions.
- Oversee and coordinate practice and pool schedules, at multiple facilities.
- Ensure safety of swimmers during practices and meets, following all YMCA risk management procedures.
Aquatic Coordinator Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Monthly In-Service Opportunities for safety training/recertification, facility and program operations.
- Supervise, instruct, and evaluate aquatic program activities including all swim lesson classes, school aquatic programs, facility rentals and special events for schools and the surrounding community.
- Train and supervise LGs, instructors, conduct performance evaluations, initiates and administers personnel and disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for operation of the pools, and hot-tub filtration systems. Work with part-time staff to monitor, repair, replace, and adjust pumps, chlorination equipment, filters, circulating pumps, chlorinators, flow meters, valves, backwashing, chemical testing, chemical stock, and water chemistry.
- Create & maintain LG/Swim Instructor schedule, and ensure ALL Aquatic operation times are properly staffed, and fill unstaffed aquatic operation times as needed.
- Position involves weekend or extended hours and frequent travel to offsite events.
- One to two years coaching experience preferred
- Minimum age of 21.
- Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Completion of YMCA Coaching and USA Coaching training and certifications.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Salary: $28,000.00 - $32,000.00
