Teach For America-Colorado seeks a Managing Director, Continuum Strategy (MDCS) to lead the placement and onboarding of our members at partners across Colorado and ensure that our Member and School Partner Experiences are best in class, and delivering survey results to prove it. In order to continue to build on the momentum of the region, the MDCS should be comfortable crafting both long- and short-term strategies, partnering with other members of the Continuum to analyze and improve processes, and managing a team toward ambitious results. S/he needs be to be comfortable and confident engaging with members of our community, including parents, students, and community partners.

The MDCS will report directly to and work closely with the Vice President, Program Continuum, and will manage a single full time direct report and a team of part time reports.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Corps Member & Launch Fellow Matriculation, Placement, and Onboarding (40%)

  • Lead and optimize selection, hiring, and placement strategy for all new members in the Colorado region
  • Lead and optimize onboarding strategy for incoming members and ensure processes for district and charter school hiring and state licensure are optimized and strengthening our brand equity
  • In collaboration with EA and Blue School Partners (the funder consortium) undertake a deep review of our placement strategy and revise so that it is transparent and systematized.
  • Work with External Affairs team to lobby the State Board of Education to drop high school math PRAXIS requirement for middle school math teachers.
  • Lead and ensure compliance for critical work streams such as CMPP and AmeriCorps.
  • Manage the Manager, CS as well as a significant team budget

Member & School Partner Experience (40%)

  • Collaborate with PC Leads to determine where and how we need to optimize our processes and ways of being to ensure that our member and school partner experiences are excellent, and building brand equity. 
  • CSI/CALI & Family/Education/Community Alignment: Ensure that all PCT strategies and tactics are aligned to CSI/CALI. In addition, help to set strategy for how we envision exposing Fellows/CMs/Alumni to the other spheres of Family and Community.
  • Lead the regional execution of our CSI & CALI surveys, and collaborate with PC Leads to ensure that we are capturing learnings after each survey to improve the experience and drive us toward our Breakthrough Results. 

Shepherding Continuum Strategy (10%)

  • Work closely with the VP, and the PC Leads, to ensure that the time, talent and treasure of the Continuum are aligned and optimized to deliver on our Regional Vision. 
  • Provide project management support as needed for PC wide initiatives. 

Fulfilling our Mission through Organizational and Regional Priorities (10%)

  • Participate in our region’s corps member selection, matriculation, induction, and ongoing engagement initiatives
  • Attend regional retreats held throughout the year, monthly staff meetings, and occasional conferences and trainings
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 

Prior Experience

  • 8+ years professional work experience demonstrating progressively increasing responsibility, with demonstrated success in all or most of the relevant functional areas (i.e. strategy development, program design, system design and management etc.)

Work Demands

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
