The Program Director II – Adventure Clubs will be responsible for a budget of $1.8 million of branch operations and will include the departments of Adventure Clubs. Operating in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards established by the YMCA of San Diego County and the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA, the successful candidate will be an active and important member of the management team of the dynamic multi-facility branch.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervise parent-child programs, including Y-Guides, Y-Princesses, Y-Explorers, Y-Maidens, and the Trail programs.
- Responsible for the development and control of department budgets
- Ensures that all assigned budget accounts are monitored, and modified as needed and meet year-end outcomes.
- With departmental support, attend and supervise participants at the weekend campouts, ensuring safety and upholding YMCA policies and procedures and values.
- Manage clubs, including attending evening council meetings.
- Recruit, interview, hire and training staff and club leadership.
- Assist and attend in the planning of the Adventure Club events.
- Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and participants.
- Follow and maintain standards, guidelines, objectives, and goals of the Adventure Club programs.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm in all phases of work with staff, parents, and children.
- Maintain a professional manner with members, club participants, staff and the community.
- Actively participate in the Annual Giving fundraising campaign.
- Manage and update the Y-Guide website.
- Plan, conduct, and document staff meetings, focusing on customer service, safety, and review of established policies and procedures.
- Research possible camping/activities facilities.
- Participate as a team player to ensure that the YMCA image and missing statement is upheld.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent work experience
Skills/Experience:
- At least 2 years supervisor/supervisory experience
- At least 2 years experience creating and managing budgets
- At least 2 years experience developing and implementing fee-based programming
- YMCA Team Leader Certification is preferred
- Knowledge of and previous experience with serving and engaging diverse populations
- Demonstrated ability to produce positive results in areas of financial development, board & volunteer development, program administration, staff supervision and fiscal management
- Bilingual, English/Spanish, preferred
