Provides maintenance of the computer desktop / laptop environment by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions. Administers and provides internal support for the Y’s personal computers, printers, servers, and related equipment. Manages, evaluates and maintains information system technologies, including networks, security and controls, training and supporting end-users, researching and implementing new technologies, establishing "best practices," and maximizing return on technology investments. This position supports the work of the Y.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages and oversees all aspects of computer networks (both LAN and WAN) and related computing environments including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
- Develops and manages system security, including back up processes. Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
- Evaluates issues pertaining to information systems for strategic planning and innovation.
- Researches areas of technology that relate to the YMCAs needs and makes recommendations.
- Develops and monitors budgets related to information technology. Monitors the costs involved in maintaining and improving information systems, including equipment and software. Evaluates and recommends technology purchases based on the YMCA’s needs.
- Monitors and responds quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT support ticket system; resolves problems to the end user’s satisfaction.
- Consults with users, management, and vendors to assess computing needs and system requirements; oversees vendor contracts.
- Ensures best practices are in place in regard to technology and provides training as assigned.
- Maintains inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses.
- Ensures training and support is provided to users; assists with onboarding of new users.
- Installs, tests and configures new workstations, peripheral equipment and software.
- May supervise staff and/or volunteers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Degree or certification in IT related area of study, and minimum of 2 years related work experience required.
Skills/Experience:
- Operational understanding of all Microsoft products, including Microsoft Server 2003, 2008, 2012 R2 & Mac experience a plus.
- Accelerated PC skills with the ability to adapt to any windows based software.
- Willingness to attend meetings, trainings, and obtain additional certifications as requested.
- Ability to research and implement new technologies and solutions.
- Skills in problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Ability to communicate effectively, and to train and instruct users.
- Reliable transportation required to drive between the branches.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Availablity required on occasional evenings and/or weekends if after-hour IT emergency arises.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00
