The Louisiana Major Gifts Manager will apply their skills to the TNC Louisiana fundraising and funding campaign team/committees within the TNC development program. They will be responsible for providing resources such as research, gift processing, prospect tracking, stewardship, etc.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Louisiana Major Gifts Manager will be supervised by the Director of Development for Louisiana and work towards meeting the funding campaign priorities of the team. They will help to develop and implement tactics for approved donor plans, and complete and organize multiple donor meeting preparation tasks and campaign activities. They will identify individual priorities based on the needs of the fundraising staff and campaign. They will manage, track, and report on key data related to campaign fundraising. The Louisiana Major Gifts Manager will perform independent analysis of key program data, which will include donor or gift information. They may be responsible for processing gifts. They must have advanced knowledge of the systems and resources utilized by the fundraising team to provide fundraising support to out the door fundraisers and coordinate communications related to the campaign. They will have some contact with trustees and donors on the campaign committee and will need the organizational and people skills to communicate effectively, take committee minutes, distribute follow up notes and regular to do lists to committee members and fundraising staff. They take on additional duties to enhance the work of the fundraising team, such duties may include, but are not limited to, a more significant role in developing documentation, and/or enhancing the systems and tools used by the team. The Louisiana Major Gifts Manager will keep up-to-date on market trends and best practices in order to improve services. They will adapt processes and implement recommended practices in order to improve campaign effectiveness based on their in-depth understanding of related campaign policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE 

  • Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems.
  • Does not supervise any staff but will manage work of peers on departmental project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with TNC fundraising and campaign policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements.
  • Will provide centralized support to the LA chapter and fundraising campaign staff and volunteers.  
  • They will manage the annual solicitation process with managed donors and will be responsible for some middle/loyal donor relationships.
  • Manage projects with several variables, set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability.
  • May provide oversight for a key function of the fundraising team.
  • Provide input through project teams for the development and implementation of new initiatives or the improvement of existing programs.
  • Travel and work overtime as needed.
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
  • Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
  • Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience generating reports, and analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Experience working across departments.
  • Experience with current technology in relevant field.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of relevant field.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience are appreciated.
  • Ability to implement complex processes.
  • Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results.
  • Demonstrated experience using diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate staff.

  • Strong organization skills, accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Successful experience implementing strategic program goals.
  • Understanding of basic accounting practices.
