The Director of Learning and Impact is responsible for assessing and evaluating all programs and services provided by Accelerator YMCA. The Director of Learning and Impact will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Senior Director of Programs to identify what is working, what is not, and to create a culture of learning in pursuit of our mission of accelerating young people’s ability to build safe, successful and happy lives. The Director of Learning and Impact will foster a spirit of services integration and continuous improvement in service to our young adult and family participants, within the Accelerator’s breadth of services, across the Y of Greater Seattle and among our partner agencies and funders in King County. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead staff, Board, and Leadership Team to improve Accelerator Y’s ability to track, report on, analyze, and utilize program performance data.
  • Utilize data and our experience to refine Accelerator Y’s Theory of Change so that it best guides our work and how we focus our team, financial resources, communication tools, and influence.
  • Manage, improve, or create systems of quality assurance throughout the agency to manage accreditation and process improvement/standardization.
  • Improve quality of program data and use learnings, in partnership with Accelerator Y staff and leadership, to identify and direct the organization’s strategic and long-range goals.
  • Lead the Accelerator Y’s strategic plan development and refinement, including providing specific action plans and organization and/or program goals to enhance impact as needed and assessed.
  • Provide analytical and project management support for agency directors, managers and staff in the development of program goals, initiatives and special projects.
  • Supervise agency research participation and special projects as needed.
  • Coordinate, initiate and/or supervise research and evaluation of current programming and program opportunities, leveraging existing data collected, as well as practice experience of program leadership and staff.
  • Use verbal and written communication skills to present data analysis and synthesis to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Partner with frontline staff to support program improvements; with program managers and directors to shift program models; and with development staff for successful grant proposals and to interpret key data findings for dissemination to donors and community partners.
Educational Background: 
Master’s degree related to social sciences or related field.  
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience in strategic planning and program evaluation, preferably in child welfare, housing, workforce development, youth violence prevention, or related fields.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in data analysis, statistics, research, and program evaluation.
  • Experience with SQL, and analytic tools such as R, Python, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the social services field, including evidence-based policies and practices to address poverty, institutional racism, and homelessness and understanding of the systems many young people living in poverty intersect with, such as child welfare, juvenile justice, healthcare, public housing, homeless programs and workforce development.
  • Experience in research, writing, data analysis and the ability to convey complex concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, program evaluation and impact analysis.
  • Life experience with poverty, child welfare, homelessness, behavioral health, or youth violence and a desire to use that experience to improve the lives of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to focus on high-value, high-impact priorities.
  • Team development and leadership; motivation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks and juggle priorities while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to use good judgment to make sound decisions and resolve problems.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and use discretion.
  • Ability to gain cooperation of others, work effectively as a member of a team, and ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous work experience in the social services strongly preferred.
  • PhD. in social sciences or related field.  
  • Trained in performance excellence standards, including such Project Management Professional, Pathways to Excellence or Lean.
