As the Manager, Alumni Experience, you will passionately and strategically create a logistical and communication infrastructure to support our alumni culture and community. As the leader of our communications work, you will work with the Alumni Leadership Team and broader region to ensure that all Teach For America alumni in Nashville feel connected to, proud of, and excited to continue the work of the movement for educational equity. You will also engage with a portfolio of junior alums to ensure they have the career and leadership development support they need in the short and long term. You’re a true intrapreneur, a creative self-starter and innovator with a strong sense of team and commitment to continuously learning and improving. You’re very organized, and are deeply excited by the opportunity to build organizational and data systems that do not yet exist. You can make relationships quickly with people from many walks of life. You feel you are at your best when you’re making others feel comfortable, included, important and known, and when you’re re-shaping the way we approach work. You will report to the Managing Director, Alumni Leadership.
Finance, Data Strategy and Administration (15%)
- Complete American Express Corporate Card expense reporting for the Managing Director, Alumni Leadership
- Track alumni spending against budget to ensure strong stewardship of financial resources
- Create and run systems for alumni engagement, including, but not limited to:
- Alumni survey completion, data reporting and feedback follow-up system
- tracking the movement of new alumni to Nashville and build the systems for meeting with each of them
- tracking alumni attendance to programming and survey results
- Create and run systems for historical data tracking and report findings and trends to broader TFA team and constituents
- Develop system to manage, track and house ongoing feedback and survey completion post alumni events and programming
- Liaise with Professional Learning and Experience Operations team to set vision for culture across our constituent experience
- Consistently track and update alumni data in our contact management database to ensure accuracy to drive team priorities.
- Create streamlined system for alums to participate in the program in ongoing ways, i.e. mentorship, presenting at programming, etc.
Project Management (30%)
The Manager, Alumni Experience, will be responsible for managing the planning and execution of the following projects:
- The annual Second Year Transition Campaign, which includes meeting with all 2ndyear corps members and advising the PLE Team on programming to support their experience at relevant professional development opportunities
- The annual Alumni Induction event for rising Nashville alumni
- Operations (food, space, travel, lodging rentals, marketing collateral, outreach plan, décor, etc.), division of labor/responsibilities, and providing inspiring and informative updates on projects to key stakeholders in a timely manner, for example, sharing high level logistics for an event with the broader team and gathering their input during an All-Staff Meeting for all events run by the Alumni Leadership Team, which includes:
- One Day in BNA, annual alumni educator learning and hiring weekend
- Alumni Board meetings
- Any additional
The Manager, Alumni Experience will be responsible for supporting the execution of the following projects:
- Through the Specialist, Corps Operations, the M, AL will provide logistical support and event visioning for alumni and second year corps member events, which might include: Alumni Induction, Career Pathways Dinners, What’s Next Job & Opportunities Fair, annual Holiday Party, Back-to-School BBQ, etc.
Communication Systems (15%)
- Develop communication/outreach plan for the alumni network as a whole as well as sub groups, such as The Collective and various professional development cohorts
- Determine “best bets” to inform future communication strategy, i.e. analyzing blast readership, A/B subject line testing, what communication strategies fit which messages, etc.
- Create and update Alumni Teacher Placement system and info to be shared with broader team and alums moving to Nashville
- Create and maintain Alumni Team Outlook account and inbox
- Create and maintain alumni website in coordination with the Professional Learning and Experience Operations team for a streamlined web experience
- Create and run alumni social media plan and content
Relationship Building and Engagement (25%)
- Meet with all second-year corps members to gather inputs on their experience, and to support their career planning post-corps
- Meet with a portfolio of 200-300 junior alumni and new-to-Nashville alumni across the year, and track all meetings with fidelity in TFACT Database or other relationship-tracking database
- Contact alums from other regions moving to Nashville to welcome them to the city, introduce them to TFA Nashville, and provide career support
Regional and Organizational Stewardship (15%)
- Support team-wide priorities for TFA Nashville and organizational-wide initiatives. Examples include:
- Participating in staff committees, teams and task forces
- Corps member recruitment, admissions, and matriculation
- Team meetings and professional development
- Institute
- Regional events and programming (such as teacher orientation and end-of-year celebration)
- Role check-Ins, cross-team meetings, performance management conversations, etc
- 2+ years professional work experience
- Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Drive, Outlook, Web design/maintenance, and/or Salesforce highly preferred
- Previous project and data management experience preferred
- Teach For America alumni strongly preferred
