Washington, DC, USA
Full-time

Fall 2018: September 10th – December 14th

The Hidden Brain project helps curious people understand the world – and themselves. Using science and storytelling, Hidden Brain reveals the unconscious patterns that drive human behavior, the biases that shape our choices, and the triggers that direct the course of our relationships. The goal of Hidden Brain isn't merely to entertain, but to give you insights to apply at work, at home and throughout your life.

Our fall 2018 intern will focus on outreach, marketing, and audience engagement. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about helping us to engage with and grow our audience, and has strong experience in marketing and social media strategies.

Areas of Responsibility:
  • Work with our team to brainstorm potential stakeholders and “influencers” who might be interested in our show, and reach out to these individuals and organizations on a weekly basis.
  • Work with the Hidden Brain team to develop new strategies for engaging with listeners across our social media platforms.
  • Develop web-exclusive content that provides listeners with a storytelling experience that builds upon what they’re receiving from our podcast and radio show.
  • Work with Hidden Brain host and supervising producer to brainstorm new ways for us to engage with listeners, and for listeners to engage with each other (such as via a closed Facebook group).
  • Conduct research for the show’s producers as needed, and take part in our regular scrums and editorial meetings.
  • Open mail and complete other administrative tasks as assigned.
Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with marketing and social media strategy.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Ability to manage both long and short-term projects.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong digital media skills, including proficiency in social media as both a newsgathering technique and as a way to distribute content.
  • Interest in social science is preferred.
  • Interest in audio storytelling is preferred.
