Reporting to the Vice President of Mission Advancement, the Graphic Design and Marketing Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Director of Communications and Marketing, Y association staff, and the Development Team to help implement the marketing and communication plan of the organization. This includes creation and dissemination of a variety of materials on membership, programming, cause, Y events, news and Y stories for both internal and external constituents working within brand guidelines (graphics, voice and messaging). The Graphic Design and Marketing Coordinator helps support measurable results on specific initiatives while working to position the Y as a cuase-driven organization focusing on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Gather content, write and publish Y marketing and graphic materials.
- Use project management system to manage department tasks. Support and help train association staff in use of the system.
- Edit and distribute e-mail including newsletters, invitations, updates, flyers, and member and donor communications.
- Help update and maintain web site content.
- Maintain event calendars for Y branches.
- Assist in administration of association and branch Facebook pages.
- Work with branch and Metro staff to create and revise program guide and other promotional materials.
- Assist directors in promoting Y programs using a variety of means, including flyers, e-mail messages and social media posts.
- Manage templates for program newsletters and publications.
- Administer electronic and hardcopy survey and program evaluations.
- Assist in collecting photos, videos and Y stories to support the Y's mission.
- Provide support for Y presentations, events, and board meetings when needed.
- Act as back-up for the Director of Communications when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Mission Advancement.
- Two (2) plus years' experience in graphic design.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in page layout programs such as InDesign, as well as Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, website content management systems, and digital email/marketing platforms. Constant Contact, Facebook and Drupal experience preferred.
- Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
- Proficient in project management and team communications software such as Basecamp.
- Knowledge of social media networking channels.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with staff members, volunteers, donors, members, vendors and others.
- Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism from staff, volunteers and constituents.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Must be goal-oriented and innovative. Must possess creativity, initiative, good judgment and analytical skills.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling and communicating sensitive information and data.
- Compiles with all applicable compliance and safety regulations and directives.
- Ability to travel locally, including to sites that may not be ADA compliant.
- May require some evening or weekend hours for meetings and events.
