The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
The Program Director will be responsible for leading and implementing the strategic delivery of care and support services to a region of our service area. This will involve managing program staff, volunteers and partnering with organizations to deliver community education programs, support groups to individuals living with dementia, key family and friends, healthcare providers and the general public. It will also involve significant outreach and community engagement to develop and facilitate appropriate partnerships.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and mentoring to Program Managers and volunteers, including promoting an environment of transparency, inclusion and teamwork
- Oversee the work of the Program Managers with ongoing local programming excellence, conduct program evaluation and needs analysis to maintain superior delivery within assigned territory
- Perform program planning, needs assessment and implementation of a wide range of volunteer-delivered programs to caregivers, families, persons living with the disease and law enforcement agencies though out the region
- Monitor goals through continual data analysis to manage progress towards goals and quality improvement
- Identify and cultivate collaborative partnerships to augment mission delivery and foster beneficial collaborative relationships
- Build effective internal and external relationship networks including supporting others to enthusiastically work towards common objectives
- Use Personify and other tools to manage contacts, constituents and various reporting requirements
- Assist with coverage of programs and services as needed
- Develop and implement techniques that will increase the diversity of the constituents accessing services and partnerships developed
- Assist in outreach efforts and build working relationships with physicians, service providers, care facilities and other stakeholders who collaborate on Association initiatives.
- Work to assure timely and effective public relations and marketing of programs
- Anticipate and identify, organize and analyze growth opportunities
- Provides mentoring, training, and assistance of Program Manager in the recruitment and retention of volunteers, with the intention of building out a more vibrant volunteer-driven program in the areas of program education delivery and support groups.
- Intense focus on building a more robust volunteer program, especially for the organization's portfolio of common programs in order to grow programming
- Work with chapter leadership to establish strategic initiatives, tactics, and measures that move chapter toward engaging an active volunteer base to donate 1:1 staff to volunteer hours
- Lead community and volunteer service teams within assigned territory with special attention to increasing participation among minority, rural, and interfaith volunteers
- Meet outcomes for significant increases in: volunteer hours contributed, engagement of volunteers as full mission partners, diversity of volunteers to reflect constituent population, and volunteer satisfaction.
- Implement recognition strategies and work with departments to create recognition events and activities
- Develop strong relationships within the community to foster a positive image such that community members and students will volunteer for the Alzheimer's Association
- Develop and cultivate professional relationships with key internal & external partners/organizations, corporate partners and civic relationships to provide opportunities and organizational support of Chapter programs
- Work to assure that requirements for grant-funded programs in the assigned territory are met
- Submit and complete program reports, event participation, and grant-related paperwork in a timely manner
- Lead organizational efforts in engaging healthcare systems
- Identify and develop strategies for full mission provider engagement
- Work directly with healthcare systems around early detection, diagnosis, and connection to the Association
- Participate in sharing and learning related to clinician engagement and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain a working knowledge of other healthcare related initiatives, cooperate and encourage collaboration to share resources, tools and materials whenever possible
- Lead the development of marketing and promotional goals and strategies targeted to clinicians and healthcare systems

- Ability to travel to perform job duties-70% travel
- Superior self-management skills, independent initiative and ability to collaborate are essential
- Ability to work with a wide range of people including persons with dementia, family and professional caregivers, diverse populations, corporate partners, foundation staff, volunteers, legislators and public policy officials
- Effective written and oral communication skills with impeccable attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications; able to perform all training required for organizational CRM system, Personify360
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, management, and support
- Ability to analyze information, course correct, and make timely, appropriate decisions
- Ability to collaborate and work well as part of a team; flexibility, adaptability, and good humor
- Ability to work and succeed in dynamic, fast-paced, and results-oriented environment
- Appreciation of cultural and ethnic diversity, especially with respect to outreach to underserved communities

- Excellent public speaking skills; must demonstrate an ability to represent the organization with poise, confidence, diplomacy, and professionalism
- Bilingual - Spanish preferred
