Provides help to the classroom teachers and assists in implementing the program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervises the children both in the classroom and in other settings that include, but are not limited to the bus, summer day camp, field trips, school-age child care, etc.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Assists in record-keeping and paperwork.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience:
- Two or more years related childcare experience, preferably in a developmental setting.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Completion of CPR, First Aid, AED Certification and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire.
- Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to market programs to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
