Child Care Assistant Director

Provides help to the classroom teachers and assists in implementing the program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supervises the children both in the classroom and in other settings that include, but are not limited to the bus, summer day camp, field trips, school-age child care, etc.
  • Maintains program site and equipment.
  • Assists in record-keeping and paperwork.
  • Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  • Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two or more years related childcare experience, preferably in a developmental setting.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Completion of CPR, First Aid, AED Certification and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to market programs to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
