Under the supervision and guidance of the Associate Executive Director, this position is responsible for development and administration of adult and youth sports programs.  The Sports Director should have strong people skills, organizational and administrative skills, including program development, supervision of staff & volunteers, financial development and member service.

The Director will develop and implement new programs into the YMCA during the course of his/her employment.  Must believe in the YMCA’s philosophy and mission and be willing to teach, model and implement character development values.  Must be flexible and maintain positive attitude.  

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for planning, preparing, delivering youth and adult sports programs. Includes flyer & brochure development
  • Responsible for developing strong volunteer participation through recruiting, training, supervising and scheduling volunteers and officials for quality programs. Includes supervising practices, games, volunteers; making schedules. Conduct parent, coach and official training sessions.
  • Responsible for reporting to City of Lake Geneva with City Recreational programs and any budget concerns.
  • Develop and implement new programs into the YMCA
  • Assist with development of special YMCA family and youth events and miscellaneous special events as it relates to the YMCA.
  • Help ensure quality control standards and participants safety
  • Follows association financial procedures, including purchasing procedures
  • Responsible for purchase, maintenance and use of department equipment
  • Responsible for supervising all aspects of the field maintenance workers and their duties.
  • Take the initiative to do what needs to be done
  • Maintain a professional demeanor
  • Assist with creating and facilitating informational material as need
  • All other duties assigned
  • Must be available for supervision at all sporting events
  • Develop budget with CEO
  • Communicate with parents, coaches, umpires/referees and players
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in P.E., Recreation or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum age of 21 years old
  • Strong verbal communications skills
  • Strong leadership and organizations skills
  • Interest in working with youth, volunteers and parents
Compensation/Benefits: 

Full time benefit package according to employee handbook.  The Geneva Lakes Family YMCA contributes a total of 12% of employee's gross salary to the YMCA Retirement Plan for elidgible employees. 

Salary: $32,000.00 - $35,000.00
