The YMCA Cape Cod is seeking a motivated, team-oriented professional to provide leadership and direct supervision to our Child Care program activities for a new Child Care Center scheduled to open in September. In this position, the Director develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA child care programs. This position provides 50% administrative time and 50% classroom time.
- Manages, directs and coordinates the infant, toddler, and preschool programs for assigned location. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Provides required 50% FTE non-teaching administrative time for licensed center of 27 through 39 children or 100% FTE non-teaching administrative time for licensed center of 40 through 79 children.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and supervises staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates performance. Conducts monthly staff meetings and training opportunities as required. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures staff certifications are current while maintaining accurate records. Facilitates communication and provides leadership.
- Develops, manages and controls department budgets. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
- Supervises, develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
- Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Responsible for building positive relationships with parents. Produce and distribute monthly communication to parents. Maintain regular communications with all parents as appropriate.
- Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
- Maintains proper records/department files.
- Organizes special events for parents.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Prepares or supervises compilation of program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and meet Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) requirements as Director I position, which also includes meeting the requirements of a Lead Teacher. This includes:
- Have six months of work experience after meeting lead teacher qualifications; have evidence of satisfactory completion of at least two credits or three CEUs in category Child Care Administration; and have evidence of satisfactory completion of at least two additional credits or three CEU’s as listed by the EEC; AND
- Have met educational requirements for Teacher certification by completing a three credit course in Child Growth and Development and an additional nine credits in Early Childhood Education as listed by the EEC and have 36 months of experience if you have a High School Diploma or GED, or 27 months of experience if you have a Certificate Program degree such as CDA, community college, or Montessori credential, or 18 months of experience if you have an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or 9 months of experience if you have a Bachelor or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Two years related experience preferred as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.
- Two years demonstrated experience in budget management, staff supervision, and training and program development.
Salary: $35,801.00 - $43,851.00
