YMCA of Sandusky County is seeking individual to lead Sports Department, and perform functions in Fitness Department, wuch as personal training, teach classes, etc.).  Must be available some evenings and weekends as job requires.  Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements include Good working knowledge of sports activities, esxcellent communication and organizational skills and ability to work with youth and adults of all ages.

Experience in program management, coaching, or similar activity important.   College degree preferred, but not necessary.  Must possess or be able to acquire certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED and personal training.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directors and supervises program activities in sports department to meet YMCA objectives.  Expands youth sports program within the community.
  • Solicit and secure sponsorships for sports program
  • Secure and schedule athletic fields and facilities.  Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices and monitors necessary sporting equipment purchases as budget allows.
  • Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials.
  • Secures and develops growth in volunteer coach network
  • Organize and conduct coaches clinics and trainings
  • Conduct personal training sessions with clients
  • Lead some fitness activities as needed
  • Assist in marketing and distribution of youth sports program information, and organize schedule program registrations.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizatiuons
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events
Educational Background: 
High School diploma - Bachelors degree in relalated field or equivalent, preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Good working knowledge of sports activities and how they relate to children of all ages.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • accredited certification in personal training.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as job requires.
  • Leadership qualities

Required Certifications

  • 6 months to 1 year experience.  
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Requiments within 60 days:  CPR. first aid, AED, peraonal training certification
  • Completion of program-specific certifications.
