Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all child and youth activities. Implements programs consistent with the needs, special interests and capabilities of the diverse children participants enrolled. Continue professional development and education through community involvement to meet the continuing education requirements established by the local licensing offices. Provide in-service staff training to meet the continuing education requirements established by the licensing office. Responsible for ensuring that the childcare environment is safe and secure always, including overseeing food program for child and youth service program. Participate in all ASYMCA training meetings, special events and staff meetings as requested. Must uphold and promote the ASYMCA mission by demonstrating the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Child Care Director is responsible for the overall daily programs operations including, but not limited to:
- Develop and maintain relationships with school districts.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of ASYMCA special events and activities.
- Promote the ASYMCA programs throughout the community.
- Excellent communication with all staff and for all programs while projecting and encouraging a professional atmosphere.
- Assist the Executive Director with program development by always looking for ways to improve delivery of service.
- Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with parents.
- Stay abreast of and implement all regulations and inspection procedures required by local licensing offices.
- Supervise staff and ensure staff have the tools needed to achieve branch goals.
- Conduct trainings for back-to-school program, Summer Camp, and assist staff in continuing education at local college.
- Maintain and update records of staff training hours - required safety trainings, CPR/First Aid/EpiPen.
- Engage outside trainers required by state.
- Schedule field trips and bus drivers to transport campers.
- Recruit, select and retain quality staff.
- Order and maintain inventory of childcare supplies.
- Be an active and proactive member of the leadership team in planning and participating in the programs activities (staff meeting, training sessions).
- Responsible for tracking attendance counts for before and after school food program and military reimbursement program.
- Plan, organize, and develop a curriculum for ASYMCA summer camps, spring break camps, Christmas break camps, and day camps if applicable.
- Responsible for reporting staff changes and updates to HR in a timely manner for processing (New Hire, PT, FT, Work, Salary Changes, Terminations)
- Ensures compliance with all Federal and state Laws, as well as all Oklahoma Minimum Standards for School-Age and Before and After-School Programs.
- Oversee childcare department budget and meet or exceed annual budgeted participant goals in Childcare.
- Participation in the Financial Development activities (Partner Campaign) of the branch including providing guidance and support to campaign teams and/or volunteers, setting/meeting campaign goals and assisting in the collection of the pledges by year-end.
- 10% Travel is expected for this position. Must be able to travel from one facility to another and pick up supplies and visit personnel as needed.
- Seven (7) years child care experience, three (3) years supervisory role.
- Must maintain and have current the following credentials and licensure:
- 30 hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership, or management
- Associates Degree in childhood education or related field
- CPR/First aid certification
- Complete required ASYMCA safety trainings (Redwoods)
- Maintain a valid child abuse history clearance
- Successfully complete the State Police Criminal Record Check and F.B.I. fingerprints screening. Results are required at time of hire.
