Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Youth Development & Family Engagement is also responsible to manage, direct, coordinate and innovate all of the child care programs including but not limited to Y-Care, Summer Day Camp, Child Watch, and any other future programming that relates to Youth Development and Child Care. They will also be in charge of delivering innovative new family programming and events to strengthen the bonds of local families in our community and foster a sense of togetherness.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assumes the role of Y-Care and Camp Director with the Department of Human Services. Upholding the Department of Public Welfare licensing standards along with the YMCA’s mission. Regulations include: Maintaining proper adult-to-child ratio, ensuring staff, volunteers, and children have paperwork that complies with state regulations, and providing upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensuring that the physical environment supports safety and healthy living.
  • Managing Before-and-After school childcare, acting as the child care program coordinator. Creates the schedule, create and maintain staff team, and make sure staff are punctual, safe, and DHS compliant at the sites. Sub for staff in the event of an emergency.
  • Works in the Child Watch Room as a Child Watch Staff from 8:30am-1130am Monday – Friday.
  • Monitors Accounts receivable for Y-Care and Camp. Sends invoices and makes calls to insure up to date payments.  Schedule EFT payments for Y-Care and Camp. Invoice Preschool Payments.
  • Develop, implement and manage Departmental budget and timelines.
  • Maintaining Keystone Stars certificates for all sites. Apply for Keystone Star Grants.
  • Understands and maintains Child Care Information Services (CCIS) records and payment schedule.   Updates DAXKO payments for CCIS.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies.
  • Overseeing Bloomsburg University education students during volunteer tutoring after school. Includes Utilizing and evaluating social work interns for their 80 hours of agency experience prior to admittance into the Bloomsburg University social work program.
  • Plan and implement a Summer Camp program. Innovate to increase participation within budgeted resource allocation to ensure sustainability. Plan field trips and buses.   Schedules food program with the tapestry.
  • Responsible for the Child Watch program and all scheduling, staffing and logistics to make this program successful.
  • Special event activities including Family Programming, Healthy Kids Day, and Trunk or Treat. 
  • Additional duties and requests from the CEO to help the organization move forward.

A director shall have attained one of the following qualification levels:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.
  •  A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children.
  • An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.
  • An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary commensurate with experience. 35 Hours Per Week.
