This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Sales and Marketing Director is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of member acquisition and organizational marketing and advertising strategies, communication processes, and public relations activities, (both external and internal) to further the Y’s mission and increase membership and program sales and member retention.
The Sales and Marketing Director assists Directors in developing marketing materials and avenues to promote programs and provides a leadership role within the organization.
- Develops and implements sales and creative marketing strategies and materials to increase membership sales, increase member retention rates and boost program enrollment to meet or exceed growth objectives.
- Supports donor and fund raising programs with marketing materials.
- Uses data and surveys to plan and execute strategies designed to improve member experience, tour-conversion rates and membership retention rates. Consistently proves success in improving tour-conversion rates and closing membership sales.
- Conducts member satisfaction surveys and analyzes data with leadership team looking for areas of improvement. Responsible for data gathering and input on membership cancellations.
- Oversees the development and implementation of support materials, brand management, and messaging in the areas of marketing, communications, public relations and implements analysis and reporting on all marketing and sales activities. Manages all marketing and advertising communications, such as the brochures, website, facility signage, direct marketing, social media, print, TV, radio advertising and internal communications
- Identifies marketplace opportunities, partners and prospects. Promotes and markets the Y to companies, agencies, schools, businesses and organizations throughout the community.
- Develops strategies to continually motivate staff to improve tour conversion rates and achieve membership sales goals.
- Develops, manages, and monitors marketing and communications and membership sales/retention budget and takes appropriate action to correct variances if necessary.
- Negotiates best pricing for marketing and advertising including print, TV, radio, social media and website.
- Develops expertise in the YMCA brand, including standards on voice, messaging and graphics. Acts as the YMCA’s brand coach, helping all staff members communicate our cause.
- Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA. Creates quarterly new member promotions.
- Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Provides leadership, training, and motivation for staff and volunteers to stay connected and promote the Y’s cause and services.
- Facilitates the administration of membership scholarship program and collects scholarships testimonials to facilitate story telling.
- Administers member insurance billing. Silver Sneakers, Active N’ Fit.
- Responsible for uploading membership data base to Y-USA and checking data base for potential offenders.
- Takes lead in organizing and managing special events, fund raising events and supports Directors with functions.
- Assists with program/camp registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Helps front desk staff learn registration procedures.
- Manages member database and responds promptly to member questions, concerns, suggestions.
- Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Skilled in utilizing design software for print and web development and production. (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc..)
- Demonstrated track record of generating leads and closing sales.
- Understanding of social media and online marketing trends.
- Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
- Experience with standard business software.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make oral presentations
- Must be able to occasionally work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
Salary: $32,000.00 - $36,000.00
