AARP’s Washington, DC office is seeking an Advisor-Investments.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Job duties: Perform research and quantitative analysis for a variety of asset classes, investment managers, and risk/return of portfolio compositions, utilizing a variety of investment research tools including MercerInsight and Optica.
- Evaluate available research, including consultant reports, to develop position summaries and recommendations to improve and influence investment decisions.
- Ensure that best practices in benchmarking, peer analysis, and other assessment tools are implemented and used to facilitate evaluation of investment results.
- Support senior staff in their analysis, review, and recommendations of investments which may include developing models, analyzing market trends and issues, drafting evaluation memorandums, and assisting in the screening and due diligence process for managers.
- Monitor existing investments, external investment advisors, and related investment operations in order to identify material developments, changes, deficiencies and opportunities for performance enhancement within the portfolio.
- Review relationships with investment advisors, including monitoring changes in personnel, reviewing performance reports, understanding underlying investments. Support external investment manager searches in designated asset classes.
- Develop effective measurement and monitoring tools to assess strategic and operating objectives utilizing BNY Mellon Custodian Reporting and Analysis System and Bloomberg system.
- Develop capital market assumptions and baselines and perform stress tests that model performance and downside risks under potential outcomes.
- Analyze investment performance and fund attribution and make recommendations for actions that will improve performance.
- Evaluate investment managers to manage funds within guidelines for quality, duration, and diversification limits established for each fund, ensure risk-controlled processes and systems are developed and used, and summarizes compliance and evaluates remedial actions taken.
- Build, rebalance and monitor both pension and 401k Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution benefit portfolios. Coordinate contributions to the defined benefit plan and project fund status over time.
Educational Background:
Qualified applicants must have an MBA degree from top-tier university specializing in finance, 3 or more years of related experience, and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or completion of all three levels of CFA examinations.
