This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Sr. Program Director, the Youth Sports Coordinator will manage and provide leadership to the YBL youth basketball league, Flyers travel basketball program, and youth soccer league.

The ideal candidate will have a deep enthusiasm for developing youth through sports, and have a broad base understanding of sports. A strong sense of faith and optimism and a willingness to be a servant leader are critical to being successful in the role. A fun, creative and imaginative mind is desired to continue the program growth trajectory.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Be a leader and advocate of YMCA core policies, beliefs, and mission.
  • Maintain current knowledge of YMCA of the USA programming strategies and opportunities. In addition maintain and understanding of youth sports trends.
  • Create, develop, strategize, implement, and lead related programming areas to include
  • YBL youth basketball league, FLYERS Travel Basketball, and Youth Soccer League.
  • Hire, train, develop, coach, and mentor staff in related programming areas.
  • Supervise and lead youth sports volunteer coaches.
  • Ensure the necessary information and tools for coaches are available to be successful.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage and annual budget for all programming areas to include programming pricing strategies.
  • Seek opportunities increase capacity in programming areas through additional funding and resources.
  • Develop, post, and communicate league schedules in a timely fashion.
  • Hire, train, and mentor all youth sports referees.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with all YMCA staff and program participants      Develop and foster relationships with members, staff, program participants and community at-large.
  • Partner and collaborate with community organizations to achieve YMCA goals and startegies
  • Work within an allocated budget
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
A BS in health, recreation, exercise science, sport management, or related field is desired. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Knowledge of sports and recreation administration is desired.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience managing sports leagues.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills is a must. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $15.00
