EXCITE's approach to diversity is one that reflects the participants being served as well as emphasis on inclusivity. It is important as EXCITE moves forward that there is a culture that stresses equity and recognizes the intersectionality that occurs throughout our programming. The expertise of those being served is the driving force behind how we proceed in the hiring of staff and recruitment of volunteers. For those staff members and volunteers who do not reflect the ethnicity of the community, it is essential that they possess a strong constitution of compassion and understanding of social justice and be able to reflect these attributes in their work with participants.
