Dual Language Coordinator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor and disseminate to all immersion teachers the scope and sequence of the Spanish Dual-Language Immersion Program and curricular documents.
• Model lessons for teachers.
• Serve as a liaison between the Principal and Spanish speaking families, to maintain effective communication.
• Call and interact with parents as it relates to the program
• Draft letters and correspondence for the immersion program
• Help plan field trips, special programs, projects and other students’ activities for the Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program
• Maintain inventories for each grade level and allocates materials and resources
• To ensure the Catholic identity is upheld in the program’s curriculum and classroom’s activities.
• To assist the Principal as deemed appropriate
• Participate in the enrollment process by assisting with recruitment of families
• To perform check- ins with the classroom teachers regarding to curriculum.
• To provide support to the immersion teachers by providing strategies and activities.
• To help translate instructional activities for special needs in the curriculum, and parent notifications
• Develop a volunteer Reading Program with parents
• To foster  working relationships with parishes in the town and neighboring towns, especially with parishes with Hispanic parishioners
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Native Speaker of Spanish or near-native proficiency in Spanish

Experience as a Spanish Teacher

At least 5 years of successful teaching

Excellent interpersonal skills

Experience in writing curriculum

Excellent oral and communication skills
