The Wellness Director will closely manage the wellness center, maintain all fitness equipment, develop and implement group exercise schedules to maximize member satisfaction and facility usage. The incumbent is responsible for supervision of all wellness staff and interns.  This position is also responsible for preparing, with the Operations Director, the annual branch budget and goals to be achieved.  The incumbent will ensure that program staff produces quality programs based on member and community needs.  The incumbent will also be responsible for working with branch team members to raise funds to sustain all programs at the branch and creating relationships with members to deepen their support of the Y.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serves as an active member of the Association Wellness Committee. 
  • Actively maintain cordial and positive relations with current YMCA members as well as local community businesses and organizations for prospective future YMCA collaborations.
  • Achieve budgeted income for all areas of responsibility.
  • Recruit, screen, train, place and evaluate YMCA volunteers. 
  • Ensure that the inventory of equipment related to all programs is adequate to meet the need.
  • Ensure that we maintain a high standard of quality in the delivery of programs for all departments of responsibility.
  • Provide for accurate records and make timely reports on attendance, enrollment and participation.
  • Serve as a staff liaison to Program Committees at the Branch level to ensure that meetings are held consistently.
  • Maintain the branch website information and ensure pictures are up to date at all times for Wellness items.
  • Organize and supervise the development of of special events and wellness budgets.
  • Obtain training credentials for program accountabilities.
Educational Background: 
College degree in Exercise Science or related field is preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must have experience in the operation of wellness, including facilities, equipment and programming.
  • Ability to teach varied exercise modalities and group exercise classes on a regular weekly basis.

Required Certifications

  • CPR and First Aid
  • All necessary certifications needed for YMCA personal training, group exercise, and wellness programming
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $32,500.00
