This position will lead the development & implementation of Takodah YMCA Heritage Travel programs. This includes management of monthly meetings, promotion/registration, volunteer training, & tuition assistance. Research & develop new tours, projects, events, & fundraisers. The bulk of the busy season will be late spring and early fall; at slower times the Heritage Travel Director will support other Takodah YMCA programs. The Director of Heritage Travel also works closely with the Executive Director, other professional YMCA staff, Board Members, volunteers, community members, and students/guests and their families.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop both annual & trip budgets. Set pricing on an annual basis. Meet or exceed budgets.
- Administration of all Heritage Travel programs. Ensure there is a Takodah YMCA representative on all trips, at trainings/meetings, or registering parents.
- Responsible for all trip logistics. Including, but not limited to: hotel, bus company, tours, purchases, necessary correspondence, etc.
- Communicate and liaise with school officials to ensure strong collaboration between Takodah YMCA & participating schools. Develop promotional materials & marketing strategies to fill all trips.
- Lead marketing & sales for Heritage Travel in order to retain current schools, recruit new school, and market new offerings.
- Act as the risk manager & emergency contact for all tour leaders, parents, & vendors.
- Speak with participants, parents, volunteers, schools, & vendors; returning all calls & emails within 24 hours.
- Annually seek and analyze input from youth, families, and staff regarding the quality, safety, and enjoyment of the program and staff. Utilize input to reflect YMCA goals, vision, & strategic plan.
- Develop new mission based programming to meet the needs of the community
- Support other programs: lead summer trips, support Outdoor Education groups with programming and support, host groups as needed, assist with Camp Takodah opening day, and cross market all Y programs.
- Cross Collaboration with Heritage Travel and Camp Director to develop strong relationships and promote our broad scope of programs.
- Volunteer stewardship, including: recruitment, training, support, & recognition.
- Work closely with board committees & task forces.
- Assist with annual fundraising strategy. Including, but not limited to, volunteer recruitment, communication plans, marketing materials, etc.
- Support the Executive Director & Board of Directors in developing & implementing long-term fundraising strategies, prospect identification, recruitment, & donor recognition.
- Be an active member of the year round staff team.
- Other duties as required.
Educational Background:
Bachelor degree in education, history, or recreation.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience with logistics or travel industry.
- Strong organization, volunteer recruitment, & communication skills.

Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00
