This position supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening community. Supervises all members of the facility’s property department. Directs the maintenance, cleaning and improvement operations of the branch facilities and vehicles, including preventative maintenance and related administrative duties (payroll, budgets, etc.). 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides overall coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance. Oversee and perform, as necessary, all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems. Ensures the facility is cleaned daily to the standards and guidelines of the CDYMCA.
  • Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. Request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors or vendors.
  • Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
  • Manage electronic time and attendance, biweekly payroll and employee records for all staff.
  • Develops and administers annual budgets supporting the preventative and maintenance plans and monitors expenditures against budget. Ensure department maintains a positive fiscal position.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Participates and supports with other members of management in the CDYMCA’s fundraising campaigns, and all other special events.
  • Oversee and coordinate snow removal and lawn grooming.
  • Monitor and maintain aquatic facilities in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Serve as a staff representative to the Branch Committee, Property P-Group, or other groups, as requested.
  • Develops an annual operating plan for the Property Department. Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested. Monitor completion of objectives in given timeframe.
  • Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the CDYMCA.
  • Updates facility plans periodically. May develop annual plan of capital projects, consistent with the CDYMCA’s strategic plan and community needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the facility as a member of Clean Team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Two year degree in a mechanical, electrical, plumbing OR HVAC discipline OR HS degree/GED with 3-5 years’ experience in cleaning and building trades.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 1 year working in a supervisory capacity
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
  • 2-5 years HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing experience.

Required Certifications

  • Certified Pool Operator preferred
