This position supports the work of the Y, a leading charity committed to strengthening community. Manages the health and wellness department, which includes the wellness center, wellness programs and services, aerobics programs. This includes staff, payroll, budget management, as well as program and service development and oversight with member retention as a primary goal.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop annual operating objectives and plan for the Health and Wellness department.
- Monitor the achievement of these objectives, taking appropriate action to ensure they are met.
- Develop, monitor and administer annual budget (income and expense) for the Department. Ensure that the department maintains a positive fiscal position.
- Manage all staff (including auxiliary staff – karate, yoga, etc.) and volunteers – recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise and evaluate. This includes following all policies, procedures and timeframes of the CDYMCA.
- Manage electronic time and attendance, biweekly payroll and employee records for all staff.
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a full range of health and wellness programs and services, including Aerobics for all ages and abilities, Wellness Center Services including new member orientation, wellness and lifestyle workshops, personal training programs, wellness evaluations and exercise adherence activities., health and wellness programs and workshops, dance, weight management, yoga, martial arts, massage therapy and running club.
- Ensure the proper care and maintenance of the Wellness Center and Aerobics Facility, equipment and supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility as a member of Clean Team.
- Special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
BA/BS in Physical Ed., Recreation, Sports Mgt., OR a related field OR equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Two year of previous experience with budget mgt., staff supervision, and program development preferred.
- Current CPR, First Aid, AED, and national certification (YMCA, ACE, NETA, AFAA, or NASM) in Personal Training Instruction OR YMCA Foundations Strength and Conditioning required.
- YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.
- Excellent human relation skills, good organizational and communication skills.
