We are seeking an energetic visionary candidate who has the ability to execute on that vision. We are looking for a leader who can build on the past, create a culture of excellence within the YMCA and continue to project the spirit of the YMCA into a fiscally sound and optimally thriving force into the future. A candidate with a strong record of leadership and performance is critical.  Create a unified culture across all program areas, building a common goal to serve the families in the Auglaize-Mercer counties.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan

  • Develop a plan of action to address any specific areas that are in need of enrichment or development including, but not limited to, increased membership, enhancement of programs and services to impact community needs; and enhancement of the operational performance.
  • Work with the board and the appropriate YMCA staff to develop an annual tactical plan for successfully executing identified goals and objectives. 

Advocates the Auglaize-Mercer YMCA Mission and Vision  

  • Strengthen the reputation of the Y by being viewed and respected as a key leader within the community. Be an exceptional relationship builder with a strong desire for community outreach and networking.
  • Remains visible and active in the development of meaningful community partnerships, positioning Auglaize-Mercer YMCA as a strong philanthropic partner while maintaining the wants and needs of our community.

Provides Fiscal and Operational Leadership 

  • Demonstrates financial expertise necessary to forecast financial trends while leading the organization to balance or surplus operations by growing earned revenue and controlling costs.  Demonstrate previous successful experience in making sound financial decisions.
  • Remains informed on operational issues, with the ability to quickly address any issues that might arise as well as forecast future needs.
  • Establish programs as identified in strategic plan that impact community needs and solidify organizational sustainability, leading to superior results in programs, membership, and community engagement.

Build a Culture of Philanthropy

  • Financial – plan, development and implementation of a strategic fund-raising platform to include annual campaign, major gifts, planned giving, foundation grants, special events, collaboration; and create revenue streams necessary to support and sustain the needs of the YMCA.
  • Service – oversee, identify and implement philanthropic opportunities to meet the needs of the communities we serve.
Educational Background: 
Must possess an accredited 4-year college degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
  • Must have strong operations experience leading to successful outcomes.
  • A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management in excess of $1M or more annually.
  • Must be able to articulate demonstrated leadership practices and behaviors
  • Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization.
  • Must have demonstrated strong community relationships and connections.

Preferred Criteria for Candidates:

  • YMCA Organizational Leader Certification.
  • Strategic planning and Fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.
  • Have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00
