We are looking for a Director, Regional Cultivation & Recruitment to drive corps member recruitment from the regional team side, support matriculation of accepted Teach For America applicants, and own regional efforts to support and retain incoming corps members. In this role, from mid-summer to late fall, you will engage promising Los Angeles area talent through programming for underclassmen at Southern California university campuses in close partnership with our LA-based national Recruitment staff. Toward late fall, you will shift your focus to bringing accepted applicants on board with an inspiring, informative confirmation campaign in partnership with your national Recruitment Team colleagues and with your Experience Design teammates who manage incoming corps member onboarding. As our program participants onboard and through their summer institute training, you will monitor incoming corps member retention and provide targeted support where needed.

Recruitment (35%)
- Identify and cultivate student leaders at Southern California colleges to apply to and join Teach For America in Los Angeles
- Plan and execute programming on college campuses, both independently and in partnership with the national Recruitment Team, to inspire and motivate prospective applicants
- Build relationships with current corps members, alumni, community partners, schools, and other constituents to engage them in recruitment efforts
Confirmation (20%)
- Support the process of matriculating accepted applicants into the corps and, alongside the other members of the Experience Design team, set ambitious goals for number of accepted applicants who confirm their offers
- In partnership with the Manager, Onboarding & Experience Design, create a confirmation communication plan, programming, and resources aimed at providing accepted applicants with the information they need to make an informed decision about joining Teach For America
- Help train and coordinate regional staff members, current corps members, and alumni to work with accepted applicants as they make their decision to join Teach for America Los Angeles
Retention (30%)
- Maintain a pulse on incoming corps member retention through regular communication with corps members, onboarding-focused staff, and institute team
- Provide targeted support to these corps members through institute, including 1:1 coaching, feedback conversations, and institute classroom visits, and advise Corps Member & Alumni Impact team on retention as needed at the start of the school year
- Use corps member retention and satisfaction data to inform planning and strategy, and maintain high expectations for your and your team’s results in the area of corps member satisfaction
Regional responsibilities (15%)
- Participate in region- and organization-wide initiatives and events such as corps member selection, staff learning and development days, new corps member confirmation, and other events
- Teach for America alumni strongly preferred
- 3+ years of work experience required
- Experience designing programming for adults and/or planning events preferred

- Ability to communicate clearly and compellingly verbally and in writing
- Strong skills in coaching others and delivering feedback
Work Demands
- Ability to travel to university campuses and event locations around the Los Angeles region
