The YMCA of Central Florida has an exciting opportunity for a Wellness Director at our Dr. P. Phillips YMCA Family Center.

Seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and action oriented leader to cater wellness and personal training programming to a diverse and growing membership population. This individual will provide staff and program leadership in the areas of wellness and personal training specifically, previous related leadership experience in these areas are essential to this role. The incumbent will be required to asses and upskill personal training staff to enhance program/personnel quality, acting as a subject matter expert in fitness/wellness trends. S/he will be challenged to provide a successful track record in related fiscal and payroll management, as well as the execution of innovative personal training programs with an emphasis on member engagement and connections.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Critical competencies include – Strong wellness and personal training programming experience; with an emphasis on driving member engagement on the wellness floor through purposeful staff scheduling and coaching.
  • The incumbent should have a positive trend in related career growth; possess experience in a variety of wellness disciplines, wellness technology such as Technogym, staff management, outcome and standards measurement, fundraising and fiscal / payroll management.   
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required in wellness, fitness or related field of study preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must have current nationally recognized certification in group exercise. 
  • Must have current Personal Training or higher certification in ACSM, NASM, NSCA or ACE. 
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Additional specialized certifications such as Les Mills a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible experience in wellness and Personal Training. 
  • Minimum 3 year in staff supervision and scheduling experience; overseeing wellness, personal training programs is essential. 
  • Must have related experience for wellness / personal training revenue goals of $300K annually.  
  • Past experience / understanding of the member engagement experience and wellness technology (Technogym highly preferred).
  • Previous YMCA operations or related experience a plus. Seeking the opportunity for continued career growth within the YMCA organization preferred. 
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal, public relations and communication skills. Additionally excellent motivation, recognition and staff training & development experience is needed.
  • Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office and various fitness and wellness applications required; Oracle, Technogym and Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and engage members.
  • Ability to problem solve and address staff or member concerns.  
  • Demonstrated skills in fundraising. 
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule based on business needs that may include early mornings, week days, evenings, weekends and some holidays.
