We are looking for a Manager, Recruitment, Alumni and Community Partnerships (M, RACP) to support the Director, Program Continuum to launch and manage programming to support local recruitment initiatives, targeted support and engagement of alumni, and embedding our program in community by developing strong community partnerships. This position will require high levels of leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship, as the region explores new ways of supporting and investing our growing network. 

The M, RACP will work closely with the Manager, Development and Communications to ensure consistency of communication in all messaging to our network and community partners.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Manager, Recruitment, Alumni and Community Partnerships will manage all local recruitment campaigns, alumni engagement and support, and community partnerships.

Create and manage an ambitious campaign to recruit talented, diverse individuals to join the corps now and well into the future (25%)

  • Identify, cultivate, and influence top individuals to apply to and join Teach For America from Buffalo’s colleges and universities
  • Mobilize and invest outstanding corps members and alumni to support our recruitment efforts on campus and in communities
  • Build and maintain relationships with student leaders and/or partner organizations, and collaborate with them to grow this movement
  • Invest college administrators, faculty members, career service representatives, advisors, and other key gatekeepers to help execute an effective recruitment campaign
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences to deliver a compelling vision tailored to their motivations and interests
  • Grow the leadership mindsets and skills of underclassmen and accepted applicants
  • Work closely with principals and teachers at partner schools to identify future talent who may make excellent corps members; and ‘keep tabs’ on those students throughout their post-secondary educational experience—creating multiple touch points for long-term, prospective corps members to stay connected to the organization and the movement

Manage campaigns to achieve ambitious goals through strategic planning and tight execution. (25%)

  • Analyze the recruitment landscape to create a vision and strategic plan for campaigns
  • Set, define, and meet ambitious yet realistic goals that are aligned with larger organizational objectives
  • Input and utilize data to make the best decisions
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of individual strategies and the overall recruitment campaign
  • Develop, implement, and track recruitment strategies designed to increase mass visibility on campus
  • Manage extensive internal and external communications

Support alumni and strengthen alumni engagement (30%)

  • Plan and execute a tight alumni survey campaign with a goal of 90% completion.
  • Analyze the alumni landscape and create a vision and strategic plan for targeted engagement and communication of local alumni, including development of unique supports for alumni like certification. 
  • Work with the Director, Program to develop professional development programming targeted for alumni.

Manage community partnerships (20%)

  • Support Director, Program in development a vision and strategic plan for community partnerships.
  • Manage consistent communication with community partners so they are invested in TFA partnership, and ensure TFA staff and network are delivering on any commitments to our community partners.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Alumna/us already engaged in the work of Teach For America preferred but not required
  • 3 – 5 years of teaching experience in a low-income urban or rural setting
  • Experience crafting communications used to invest and influence large groups of people across lines of difference.
  • Strong writing skills
  • Exceptional strategic and critical thinking skills, specifically ability to think big, generate ideas and implement solutions to complex problems
