Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs. Ensure a safe, positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes participant safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies, practices and procedures.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Screen, interview, hire and provide consistent supervision of all aquatic staff
- Set standards for job performance and complete performance reviews for all aquatic staff.
- Incorporate a developmental training plan for staff that is inclusive, motivating and promotes Y goals and values.
- Ensures staff certifications are up to date.
- Oversee shift scheduling.
- Develop and market a variety of programming to meet the needs of the community, ensures optimum usage of natatorium and encourage membership of all distinctions.
- Oversee the administration of daily pool operations.
- Set, evaluate and maintain quality standards of all aquatic programs.
- Ensure the implementation of the YMCA of USA swimming program.
- Monitor and evaluate program participation and effectiveness. Compile program and natatorium usage statistics.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Act as liaison between the Skagit Valley Family YMCA and the Chinooks’ Parent Club.
- Ensure safe operation of pool in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Develop and control annual budget for aquatic programming.
- Meet target requirements for revenue and control aquatic salaries and expenditures.
- Assist in providing Health and Safety training for all YMCA staff.
- Review and revise, as required, all emergency procedures for Aquatic Center and Camp Anderson.
- Maintain emergency equipment and supplies for Fulton Street Branch.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills/Experience:
- Team Leader Certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in aquatic management
- Possess good computer skills and excellent verbal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Current state approved certifications in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, O2, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications
- Must be a candidate for certified lifeguard/CPR training instructor and certified pool operator
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $34,000.00 - $42,000.00
