This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position reports to the CEO and serves as a member of the CEO's leadership team. Responsible for human resources for a total of 175 employees (23 full-time). Coordinate recruitment, new employee orientation, human resources policies, benefits, employee files, employee relations, workers compensation and unemployment, employee communications, payroll, and HRIS.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Coordinate talent management from recruitment, online applicant tracking system, drug testing and background checks, onboarding, new employee orientation, recognition, staff training, employee communications, terminations. Assesses and evaluates training and staff development needs.
- Maintains performance management and appraisal programs; updates CCAYMCA salary range chart. Provides assistance to employees and supervisors with questions and workplace problems.
- Oversee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, wellness, HSA, retirement plan, short term disability, workers’ compensation, FMLA, NJFLI, vacation, and others.
- Responsible for HR systems, personnel records and files. Ensures timely and accurate submission of data requested by management, employees, EEO, ACA, YMCA of the USA, and others. Handle workers’ compensation and unemployment claims.
- Remains current with employment laws and regulations. Maintains an effective program of compliance with laws and regulations related to human resources including all policies and employee handbook.
- Interact with YMCA of the USA; maintain membership with the Human Resources Association of Southern New Jersey and the New Jersey YMCA HR group.
- Coordinate payroll and time and attendance program alongside with the finance office utilizing payroll service company
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; minimum Associate’s Degree
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum three years professional experience in Human Resources
- Excellent written, oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, experience with time and attendance systems, and HR related computer applications
- Current knowledge and understanding of regulations, current practices, and applicable laws regarding human resources
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Excellent time management, customer service, attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and perform with considerable independence and initiative
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $42,000.00 - $48,000.00
