Are you interested in applying your academic learnings to develop your professional IT skills? Join AARP as a summer intern with its dynamic team of ITS leaders who are responsible for IT Service Delivery and end user computing technology. As an intern, you will work closely with the Director and his team on various projects, including the Workforce of the Future project, deploying the new pc equipment and functionality to enable a more mobile workforce. This is an undergraduate position for a junior or senior, who has a passion and drive for service delivery, strong collaborative and proactive skills and a desire to learn in a professional setting.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Duties of the intern will include and are not limited to the following:

  • Support end users at their desks for, but not be limited to, questions on the deployed technology (Office 365/Skype for Business) and Win10 Operating System, and troubleshoot for basic functionality issues for the week that were deployed;
  • Will, in real-time,  enter accurate Service Now Incident or Service Request tickets for each request for assistance received at the time the request is received.  The intern will enter the ticket real time while at the end users’ desk using their assigned laptops;
  • Assist with training during WIN10 PC deployments;
  • Work closely with the AARP deployment team to keep them apprised of the deployment schedule and known technology issues;
  • Provide core support between normal business hours of 8:00am and 5:00 pm at AARP’s Washington DC. Location.
Educational Background: 
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors.  
Skills/Experience: 

AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers.  This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program. 

  • Strong collaboration and customer relations skills; 
  • Strong analytical skills and a solutions-oriented mindset;
  • The ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
