The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all of the Association’s marketing strategies, communication processes, and public relations activities, both external and internal, in order to advance the Y’s mission. The Marketing and Communications Director oversees the development and implementation of support materials, brand management, and message in the area of marketing, communications, and public relations, and implements analysis and reporting on all marketing activities.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops marketing/communication strategies for various campaigns and initiatives, working with all necessary leadership staff throughout the association.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors Association’s Marketing and Communications budget in order to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Serves as the primary Marketing resource within the Association, primarily when working with Executive level staff.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees foundational systems within the areas of Marketing and Communications, including but not limited to social media, facility and direct marketing, advertising, digital marketing, publicity, and internal communications.
  • Provides guidance during creative process of marketing campaigns, specifically around message and design.
  • Provides leadership, training, and motivation for staff and volunteers to stay connected and promote the Y’s cause and services.
  • Oversees and supports annual donor, volunteer, staff, and membership event coordination.
  • Provides general oversight of Marketing and Communication staff teams.  Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas.
  • Supports board-level committee volunteers, including facilitation of the Communications Committee.
  • Conceptualize and copyright marketing materials.
  • Manage projects, strategize, manage budget, and report to Executive level staff and Board.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years of full-time marketing and communications experience.
  • Must have strong copy writing skills and the ability to provide creative direction and marketing campaign strategy.
  • Must be able to communicate with staff and volunteers at varying levels of authority.
  • Must have proven track record of effectively managing and motivating staff.
  • Experience in social media platforms and CMS programs required. Design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in planning, time management, flexibility, organization, independent work, and presenting to individuals and groups.
  • Must have the ability to meet YMCA driving requirements.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $39,000.00 - $53,000.00
