The Director of Development fosters a culture of philanthropy and is responsible to plan, coordinate and assure implementation of strategies to develop donors and contributions under $1,000 at the Member & Community Division & Staff Division levels of giving. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide direction to the volunteer-led (staff driven) Member & Community Division and Staff Division Annual Community Support Campaign.             
  • Identify, recruit, and support volunteers for the Member & Community Division and Staff Division Annual Community Support Campaign.
  • Prepare and manage all documentation for the Annual Community Support Campaign working in conjunction with the Y-USA guidelines for implementation of the Nationwide Campaign.
  • Coordinate the grants management process, including research, writing proposals, and working with program staff to prepare grant reports.
  • Manage and maintain master lists of donors.
  • Coordinate production and mailing of direct mail appeals.
  • Attend and participate in all committee, staff and organizational meetings as directed.
  • Participate in the development and organizational events necessary to advance the Y’s philanthropic purposes.
  • Coordinate and execute donor development events.
  • Handle invoices and prepare financial reports as needed.
  • Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
  • Research and write proposals for corporate, foundation and individual donors.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the membership and donor database.
  • Follow all Human Resources Policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years of previous development experience with voluntary/non-profit organizations required. 
  • Ability to write clear, compelling narrative in various forms of motivational materials.
  • Experience in identifying, recruiting, training and supervising volunteers.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the capacity to self-motivate and work independently.
  • Must have excellent computer skills related to the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) as well as online database platforms.
  • Attend Listen First training within six months of the date of hire
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
