Board Expectations: The board believes its new CEO should be an experienced leader who has the background and qualities that will permit the achievement of excellence in the following roles including that of strategic planning:
Build and Manage the Staff Team
- Serve as a leader who can motivate, engage and reward staff in a positive and productive manner. Lead by example; remain actively engaged in staff performance and development leading to superior results in programs, member satisfaction and community engagement. Maintain a culture of integrity, high ethical standards, and values.
Improve Operating Performance and Financial Sustainability
- Provide effective leadership to improve the Y’s fiscal performance to develop a healthy and financially sustainable organization. Work with the Board and staff to develop long-term and annual tactical plans for achieving key goals and objectives.
Focus on Membership and Program Expansion
- Continue growing and retaining membership as well as expanding programs to have an even greater reach and impact. Gain an understanding of community needs and the Y’s role in addressing the most critical needs as they relate to Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. Serve a valued community partner, working with others, to achieve goals.
Lead Capital Development Efforts
- Lead the Y through stages of a future capital development project, whether it’s initial planning/research and viability, architectural and schematic design phases, construction management, and/or the operational start-up of our new, renovated, or expanded facility.
Lead Fundraising Efforts
- Serve as the leader in fundraising efforts by working with the board to establish a plan for how the Y will raise additional annual contributed dollars for operations and providing financial assistance as well as capital dollars for facility renovations and expansion. Ensure public and private partnerships and resources are developed to support operational and future needs by instilling confidence, credibility, and trust in the Y with community leaders and donors.
- Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization/company.
- Proven successful track record of fiscal management for a complex organization more than $1M annually.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
- Proven ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered and effective in broadening engagement in the community.
- Demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills (both written and verbal) as well as personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
- Successful annual fundraising experience.
Preferred Candidate Criteria:
- Experience in capital development; capital fundraising and facility development.
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (Note: Candidates not in possession of this certification have up to three years to obtain via Y-USA).
Salary Range: $75,000-$85,000
