The Regional Coordinator is the frontline ambassador of the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association’s programs to students, teachers, and community partners. This position is responsible for supporting existing participants, recruiting new participants, cultivating relationships with program alums and stakeholders, and executing components of Kentucky YMCA programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Recruit, train, and prepare students and advisors in assigned region to participate in statewide programs, including (but not limited to) Student Y/We Schools, KYA, KUNA, GFI, LTC and Y-Corps.
- Facilitate group discussion and teach program curriculum to participants and advisors/adult volunteers.
- Identify potential leaders within assigned region and encourage development of leadership skills, with emphasis on deeper participation in Kentucky YMCA programs.
- Cultivate relationships with schools, advisors, teachers, local YMCAs, and community partners in assigned region; as well as maintain a regional database to track communications and participation data.
- Act as program support for the core Kentucky YMCA programs, including (but not limited to) KYA, KUNA, LTC, GFI, Y-Corps, MYA, and Officer Retreat
- This position requires extensive travel to Kentucky YMCA offices (Frankfort and Louisville), assigned region schools and YMCAs, conference facility locations, and other venues throughout the state of Kentucky. Can expect 60-70% travel, and must have reliable transportation.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in education, human resources, or related field strongly preferred (may be offset by 3+ years of direct sales or customer service experience)
Skills/Experience:
- Direct sales or customer service experience
- Professional presentation experience
- Experience working in professional/organizational partnerships
- Two or more years of professional experience in education or another nonprofit preferred
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Individual self starter and exceptional team collaborator.
- Ability to multi-task and support multiple projects in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Ability to lift and move 35 pounds, walks several miles, and maintain high level of energy over an extended period of time
- Reliable transportation
- Available to travel up to 60-70% of the year
- Ability to communicate clearly to large groups, over the phone, and via email
- Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others
