Editorial Coordinator

NRDC’s Communications Department seeks a skilled and detail-oriented Editorial Coordinator to help organize and maintain workflow across multiple platforms. The Editorial Coordinator will report to the Managing Editor and share responsibility for trafficking NRDC editorial and institutional content, as well as support the editorial team with copywriting, reporting/writing stories, editing, factchecking, and production as needed.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Tracking and managing schedules and deadlines to ensure efficient content flow through the editorial processes
  • Receiving, addressing, and tracking content changes
  • Communicating changes and liaising with departments (edit, multimedia, programs, legal, etc.)
  • Ensuring quality assurance on content
  • Writing, editing, factchecking, and producing content as needed
  • Overseeing website content request forms
  • Stepping in for Managing Editor to fulfill duties as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, or English preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of relevant editorial experience at a publication, print or online
  • Strong writing, editing, grammar, spelling, and communication skills
  • Understanding of the writing and editorial process
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Excellent project-management skills
  • Flexibility to find quick solutions and problem-solve
  • Self-motivated and possessing the ability to meet aggressive production deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and independently as well as collaborate freely with coworkers
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environment
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and follow up independently to meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of a CMS, iMeet, InDesign, Photoshop a plus
