We are looking for a senior editor to join one of America’s most innovative (and, actually, fun) investigative newsrooms. We’re not interested in you supervising news coverage, at least not in the conventional sense. Your job will be to guide, edit and elevate compelling enterprise stories that spur change.
- Has a track record of landing revelatory stories about abuses of power — either as an editor or a reporter
- Aches to tell stories that are both important and powerfully told
- Is truly excited about all the possible ways we can do journalism nowadays: from deep data-digging, to working with readers, to marrying narrative and investigative forms
- Really likes working with others. Everybody at ProPublica has their own superpower. And we do our best work together. As an editor, we’re going to count on you to help make that happen.
If all of this sounds exciting to you, apply at https://propublica.forms.fm/propublica-is-hiring-a-senior-editor
We know there are great candidates who may not fit into what we’ve described above, or who have important skills we haven’t thought of. If that’s you, don’t hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.
We are dedicated to improving our newsroom, in part by better reflecting the people we cover. We are committed to diversity and building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and ages. And we are taking steps to meet that commitment. We especially encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, including women, people of color, LGBTQ people and people with disabilities.
The jobs are full-time and include benefits. We are based in New York, but open to remote-working if the fit is right.
