The YMCA of Central Florida has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Synchronized Swimming Coordinator at our YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando, Florida. This individual must be passionate about aquatics as well as promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Central Florida. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Synchronized Swimming Coordinator assists in the supervision of synchronized swimming programming. S/he supports member participation and retention through assisting in the development and execution of high quality programs using the USA Synchro Level Guidelines to achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding customer service. This individual will perform assigned coaching responsibilities, including practices, recruiting, record keeping and scheduling. The incumbent will lead swimmers through skill mastery and practices to achieve higher level of technique and teach participants to perform skills correctly. 
  • S/he must have experience supervising and leading others as they will assist in the supervision of the assistant synchro swim coaches and ensure they are always following all safety and policy regulations. This individual must perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; with an ability to cultivate relationships is essential, as s/he will collaborate with staff, participant guardians and members to secure volunteers as needed. 
  • The incumbent will coordinate and schedule times for practices with other aquatic department staff and communicate practice times as necessary with staff, members and parents. S/he must be available to work a flexible schedule during peak times of business, including mornings, evenings, and weekends. The incumbent will support the department by coordinating employee schedules and payroll responsibilities. S/he also must be able to travel locally. 
Educational Background: 
High School graduate or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 

To be successful, you must meet education, training and experience requirements, and you must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Training and Experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience in aquatics related field required.
  • Previous synchronized swim coaching experience required.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous synchronized swim choreography and music editing experience preferred.
  • Previous Yoga, Dance and or Gymnastics instruction editing experience preferred.
  • USA Synchro Level 1 Judge or above preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED, SafeSport and First Aid certifications required. 
  • Current USA Synchro CPP 1 or higher certification required.
  • YMCA aquatics or operations experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required.

Essential Functions

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent follow through actions regarding communication.
  • Desire and ability to work with people of all ages. (Athletes 6-18
  • Understanding of synchro instruction and coaching at multiple skills levels. (Novice, Intermediate, Age Group, JR/SR)
  • Demonstrated responsibility and dependability.
  • Must exhibit patience, sensitivity and understanding.
  • Team player and collaborator to the synchro program.
