Walk to End Alzheimer's Manager

This position is responsible for the implementation of Walk to End Alzheimer's events to meet or exceed the budgeted goals through volunteer recruitment and engagement as well as through corporate development. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, this position requires frequent travel within the assigned territory.  This position will be responsible for the Walks in Henry and Carroll Counties as well as assisting with the growth and management of the Greater Atlanta Walk per the discretion of the Sr. Director of Development.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for high level volunteer recruitment, training, coaching, and management to ensure successful outcomes of assigned Walk to End Alzheimer's events
  • Tracks, grows, and builds constituency to reach team and individual goals, including tracking and reaching overall sponsor, team, and participation goals
  • Plans and conducts regular, effective meetings to motivate volunteers and achieve goals within a defined timeframe
  • Works in partnership with volunteers to identify and secure sponsors for events 
  • Maintain relationships with key corporate sponsors year-round and insure involvement in all relevant chapter activities and recognition opportunities
  • Provides needed and timely information to support Communications plan
  • Provides ongoing stewardship to all constituents to assure high satisfaction and retention
  • Responsible for tracking and staying within a defined expense budget with detail and timeliness
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting on the progress of assigned events to the Senior Director of Development per statewide protocols
  • Actively participates in learning opportunities for professional and self- improvement
  • Ensure National standards are followed for Walk to End Alzheimer's including, but not limited to, budgets, timelines, team recruitment and retention strategies, volunteer committee development, marketing/PR, logistics, accounting and HR policies
  • Work with the volunteer planning committee to organize outreach activities that promote the Alzheimer's Association mission and services, including community presentations and corporate engagement opportunities

ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Promote employee education sessions in local corporations in the community to generate awareness for our cause; to reach out to others; to give back to the corporate sector; and to open new doors for sponsorship opportunities
  • Promote and participate in other chapter events including but not limited to The Longest Day, RivALZ, Reason to Hope and others
  • Assure compliance with Alzheimer's Association policies, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by Senior Director 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-4 years of experience with recruiting, motivating and coaching volunteers in a fundraising environment
  • Demonstrated ability to form and develop corporate relationships and partnerships
  • Ability to ask for donations, sponsorships and team participation
  • Ability to promote the Chapter's programs and events to a variety of audiences, including corporate management, individual participants and volunteers
  • Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong listening skills, friendly, professional customer service skills with visitors, callers and volunteers
  • Confident, goal-oriented, positive self-starter able to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively with internal and external partners
  • High level of professionalism to maintain composure under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • High degree of integrity to handle donations in the form of cash, check, credit card or in-kind
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory by car.  Occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for the job
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25 lbs of materials 
  • Must possess valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products, Social Media, and experience with Convio software extremely helpful
