The Advisor, Training & Awareness reports directly to the IT Director, Integration Management. The Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring learning and talent management strategies and initiatives to support an agile, informed, innovative and high performing IT organization.

The Advisor is expected to demonstrate moderate technical expertise in developing and executing talent management strategies and initiatives internal to ITS, with a concentration in staff alignment, innovation, learning and development.

Additionally, the Advisor is expected to demonstrate One AARP cultural attributes and behaviors in all interactions.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Functional / Technical Responsibilities

  • Support Director regarding talent management strategies, processes and events to help build and sustain an innovative and high performing technology organization.
  • Coordinate with HR to identify learning and development strategies aligned with ITS competency models and career pathing.
  • Identify innovation & learning opportunities to facilitate continuous development and improvement in support of AARP objectives.
  • Produce events such as staff meetings, learning workshops, webinars, focus groups and teambuilding exercises that increase departmental awareness, learnings, innovative thinking, cultural alignment and positive energy. 
  • Drives awareness and adoption of innovation and design thinking methodologies around technology products and services.
  • Researches and assesses learning and development programs, with a focus on technical and leadership skills. Identify benchmarks and recommends appropriate offerings.
  • Responsible for enhancing employee engagement by improving and maintaining a positive culture of collaboration, innovation and continued professional development.
  • Create communication products that raise staff awareness through thoughtful, visually appealing and concise messaging.
  • Build-out and coordinate IT awards & recognition program that includes multiple recognition channels and inspires exceptional effort across IT staff.

Relationship Management

  • Work in partnership with Human Resources and Organizational Development teams to ensure alignment with existing AARP policies, standards and procedures related to talent management and development and external training and awareness.
  • Facilitate Regular Communication with functional and IT leaders to ensure enterprise alignment and support.
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as Events, Facilities & Enterprise Innovation to produce inspiring and informative events that increase staff engagement.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, Business Analysis or tech related field of study.
Skills/Experience: 

Required Competencies

  • 3+ years related experience.
  • Experience developing and implementing learning strategies and processes.
  • Experience designing and delivering inspiring events.
  • Business Needs Analysis

Preferred

  • Experience in Information Technology environment.
  • Design programs such as PowerPoint, Prezi, Illustrator, In-Design etc
