As the food program specialist, you will be responsible for the coordination, implementation, tracking, and compliance and reporting of food programs between Child Care, Camp Seymour, and the Center for Community Impact; to include the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Summer Food Services Program (SFSP).

Areas of Responsibility: 

Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of the Department of Agriculture food programs, CACFP and SFSPs.
  • Update, monitor, and oversee the accuracy and timely completion of data into the Washington Integrated Nutrition System (WINS) according to system requirements, including schedule changes.
  • Ensure all Enrolled/Income Eligibility Application (EIEA) forms are received and accounted for at each location annually.
  • Renew WINS applications annually for both CACFP and SFSP and ensure branch and association are in compliance with expectations.
  • Verify and track monthly invoices from food vendors and ensure alignment with budgeted expenses.
  • Ensure CACFP/SFSP Food Review forms for Child Care, CCI, and facility branches (during summer) are completed properly and on time.
  • Provide required materials and assist with annual food program audits and reviews.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of corrective action plans are filed for use during audits.
  • Submit monthly food claim information to the Association Office for Child Care and Camp Seymour, for reimbursement from the Department of Agriculture food programs.
  • Accurately track food inventory in both the Pierce and Kitsap Child Care Offices.

Food and Nutrition Services:

  • Work with the food vendors to ensure fair prices, appropriate menu options and provide updated changes when necessary.
  • Understand meal patterns and order properly to ensure food vendors are in line with our needs.
  • Maintain all menu changes per state requirements and inform the branch/association representatives regarding any changes to the meal pattern.
  • Coordinate with Program Directors and school districts to ensure sufficient meals are provided during school and summer breaks.
  • Receive data from various sites and enter the attendance and all food provided into the WINS, accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate the ordering of lunches from Camp Seymour and/or school districts.
  • Receive weekly food requests, compare to current inventory, place orders and sort delivered food by child care site twice weekly.

Training:

  • Coordinate and support the initial and ongoing education of the requirements for the food programs, CACFP and SFSP, for all required association staff.
  • Train and support staff regarding EIEA forms (Enrolled/Income Eligibility Application) and the delivery and collection processes.
  • Attend all CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) and SFSP (Summer Food Service Program) trainings annually as required by the state food programs.
  • Work with Learning and Development to create ongoing training.
Skills/Experience: 
  • I have 3 years’ related experience, including data entry, coordinating with others, delivering training, and monitoring and tracking of projects.
  • I am extremely organized, proactive and know how to get things done.
  • I am proficient with computers and data tracking systems.
  • I have or commit to obtaining CPR, Basic First Aid, Food Handlers, and TB cards.
  • I have a Washington State Driver’s license (when applicable) with current copy of driving abstract.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $15.32
